Visiting Suzal's newborn @ PMC
|
|
My heartiest congratulations to Suzal & Cikju on the birth of their first baby daughter , Nur Alya Qistina binti Norjulianizam.
Adorable, isn't she?
Nadiah, it was really nice meeting you and your boy again! The last time we saw Nad was more than a year ago when she came back from Japan to attend an interview for a scholarship (and she aced it too!). And today she is 7 months pregnant with her second child! Her first boy, Naeil is almost five now and has grown into a handsome and bright lad ; he speaks Japanese (and could even pass for one!) although occasionally we could hear bits of Malay here and there, ...with Kedah dialect of course! Cute!
Anyways..speaking of which.. I'd like to wish a Happy Mother's Day to the both of you, as well as mothers everywhere!
Especially to mine!

DO YOU PREFER…
1. To watch or to participate?
I'd say.. to participate, most of the time. Unless it's none of my business ..then it'd be more fun to watch, wouldn't it? uh, ok, that doesn't sound quite right...
2. Malls, catalogue shopping or the Internet?
Malls, of course! after all, what is shopping without a trip or two to the changing room!
3. A bath or a shower?
welll...before I learnt how to swim, I have to say..a shower. Now that I know how (barely!), a shower!
4. To talk to people by telephone, in person or by e-mail?
If it's someone I'm comfortable with, my first choice would be.. in person then maybe IM, phone and finally email. I'm kinda awkward on the phone, even with ppl im close with - I dunno why! My best frens are all aware of this so they rarely call me for a long girly chat cos I'm just terrible! "Zaf ni.. orang yg call dia, dia yg cakap bye dulu" haha.. sorry girls.. I honestly don't mean to cut short the conversation; I take after my dad who, when I complain about his abrupt "bye", would innocently reply, 'abah ingatkan dah habis..' Btw, this has become a family joke - to end phone conversations (with each other) with an abrupt "ok byeee"
5. Typing or writing?
If it's more than 30 words, I prefer to type.
And if you've seen my handwriting, you'd prefer if i type too
Done! That wasn't so tough I'm gonna tag:
1. Gic/ Fizi - when you guys come back from your x-th honeymoon (I've lost count!)
2. Sun
3. Eli
4. Zaid
5. Wei Wei
This photo has nothing to do with the meme but I was just feeling nostalgic hee...

Apparently I have always been short haha..

Merpatis Reunion @ Our home
|
|
10 years. That's how long we've been friends Unbelievable, isn't it..how time flies before your very eyes. Just 7 years ago, sometime in October, I think, we had our farewell party in Fizi's room at S23, Kolej 6. Remember Party Bear 2001? . Gosh we were so immature haha....(some of us still are ) Sigh, those were the days. I wish I could upload some of the pics here but we weren't dressed appropriately for public view Anyway now, when I look at Fatin and her 2 beautiful girls, and Suzal with her anytime-now belly- reality hit me like never before - it has been almost 7 years since we left uni! Wow. And the best part is we remain good friends until now. (I guess for most of it, we have the internet to thank seeing as most of us are in different parts of the world!)
Friends for life, Insha Allah.
p/s As, Fuji, Nadiah, Jaielah & Uera - wish you guys were here too! Let's plan one big Merpatis reunion when everyone's around ok?

Gold Coast- Day 4
|
|
Fourth day can easily be summarized as shopping day , for we did nothing else! We hardly took photos, just imagine! Early in the morning, we caught a bus to Carrara Market, reputed to be the largest market in Queensland, selling a wide range of products...from souvenirs, second-hand books, arts and crafts, designer copies, anything Made-In-China, fruits & veges, bakery and whatnot- all at bargain prices. It reminded me very much of Petaling Street + Pasar Tani Dubbed as 'bargain-hunters paradise', the Carrara Market receives good reviews in the net (which was why we put it in our plan in the first place) but I personally beg to differ! 2 hours there and all I bought were a couple of Australian made soaps at AUD5 I definitely prefer the night market we went on Day 2.
Anyway, there (of all places!), we met a Malaysian student who suggested that we visit Harbour Town - a factory outlet which offers brand names at discounted prices, up to 60%! Now that's more like it! Sadly, we only had 1 hour to shop as we had to rush to the airport afterwards. Bummer!
Anyway, to conclude, our 4D3N trip to Gold Coast was an awesome and a much needed vacation, right within our tight budget And the fact that we planned everything ourselves, down to the smallest details made it all the more memorable. Alhamdulillah.

Gold Coast - Day 3
|
|
The 3rd day was spent in Warner Bros Movie World, reportedly one of Australia's best theme parks. The concept is similar to that of Disney's and Universal Studios with movie-themed attractions and rides as well as parades by costumed characters.
Anyway, if you ask me..my personal favourite would have to be.. the Police Academy Stunt Show which I found utterly hilarious! I was really impressed with the ingenuity and creativity exhibited. I've been to Disneyland/ DisneySea and Universal Studios Japan as well as the ones in Paris and I must say, with the exception of the Police Academy stunt show, most of the rides in Warner Bros pretty much have the same flavour. Anywho, I read somewhere that they are ending the show mid 2008 which is just too bad, but I guess it is to make way for something the newer generation is more familiar with. Dang, I feel old
Coming back from MW, we had a bit of a shock in store. Our Czech roomie had checked out and taking her place was a caucasian man! the horror! (Un)fortunately, he lasted merely 5 seconds before yours truly barged into the lobby and demanded (or rather, requested ) for a switch! The backpackers management was understanding enough and had no problems to oblige.

Gold Coast- Day 2
|
|
We woke up pretty late that morning, having set the alarm on the cellphone wrongly. Should've set it to 3 a.m Malaysian time to wake up for Subuh at 5 a.m, but we set it to 7 a.m. hahaha . Woopss.. my bad!
The journey to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary took approximately half an hour. The park was quite huge, but fortunately, there was a mini train to bring us around.
Being an animal lover, I absolutely adore this place! And I think you can guess why
In the evening, we went to Surfers' Paradise beach market which was stretched over half a km along the promenade. As we hopped from one shop to another shopping for souvenirs, it began to rain cats and dogs...for hours! The rain wouldn't stop and it was getting rather late.. So we did something we'd never do in Malaysia We ran like mad under the pouring rain, drenched to the bone! and i think it was more than 4 km! What an adventure!

Gold Coast - Day 1
|
|
It all began when yours truly stumbled upon an Airasia ad in the online news. This led to a Skype conversation with Sun, Miza and Nesreen.. and within hours, 5 return tickets to Gold Coast, Australia were purchased (impulsively) Then we started planning for the rest; accomodation, VISA/ETA, places of interests, transportation, converting ringgits etc...
Come 27th March. After 8 gruelling hours on the flight, we arrived at Coolangatta airport at 7:40am local time and took a bus to our backpackers hostel in Surfers Paradise.
We didn't do much on the first day. Decided to ditch our initial plan to visit the wax museum after the backpackers' owner gave it a poor review. Took a cruise on Aquaduck- an amphibious vehicle that can go on the road and on the sea. Sounds interesting eh? Not really . The weather was perfect by the way. It drizzled a little in the morning, but with the right amount of UV Had lunch at a halal kebab restaurant, several kms from the hostel. Strolled around town, shop-hopping We were dragging our feet everywhere; we couldn't decide what to do!
..and we had maggi for dinner. Yummy.
